The Way We Live Now, Modernist Ideologies at Work

Cerith Wyn Evans: Untitled (Column)17

London-based artist Cerith Wyn Evans is participating in the CCVA exhibition The Way We Live Now, Modernist Ideologies at Work with a sculpture titled Untitled (Column) 17. The illuminated column was commissioned especially for the exhibition. It has 90 fluorescent bulbs and its dimensions are equal to the Le Corbusier's concrete columns that populate the exhibition space. Overall, the Carpenter Center has almost 200 columns of various dimensions that support the modernist building, dispersing weight to the interior and thus allowing the signature plate-glass walls of windows to exist.
